Strengthening Wyoming's Security: Safeguarding Critical Infrastructure in a Time of Global Competition

In an era marked by escalating competition and evolving threats, Wyoming stands at a pivotal juncture in fortifying its defenses against adversaries both near and far. As geopolitical tensions simmer and pacing threats like Russia and China become increasingly aggressive, the need to safeguard our critical infrastructure has never been more urgent.

Recent developments underscore the gravity of the situation. There are vulnerabilities posed by Chinese-made Huawei equipment, with implications extending to the integrity of communication systems vital to the security of our nuclear arsenal deployed in Wyoming. Likewise, there is the ever-present concern of domestic acts of sabotage, especially against our energy infrastructure.

Against this backdrop, Wyoming's legislature is taking proactive measures to address these pressing challenges. Several bills have been introduced, each aimed at bolstering our defenses and mitigating risks posed by foreign ownership of critical infrastructure.

In the words of Vladimir Lenin, "The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them." Our current adversaries, especially the Chinese Communist Party seem intent of taking full advantage of our open society. This adage serves as a sobering reminder of the need for vigilance in safeguarding our sovereignty and protecting against potential threats, even from seemingly innocuous economic transactions.

Crucially, as we navigate this complex terrain, it is imperative that we uphold the fundamental rights of Americans to own property. While safeguarding our security is paramount, we must do so in a manner that respects our foundational principles and values. I am confident we can navigate this matter in a thoughtful and productive manner.

In the face of mounting challenges and shifting geopolitical dynamics, Wyoming must remain resolute in its commitment to safeguarding our critical infrastructure. By enacting robust legislation and fostering constructive dialogue, we can ensure that our state emerges stronger and more resilient in the face of evolving threats. Together, let us chart a course towards a future defined by security, prosperity, and unwavering resolve.
